Meet our 2026 UW union bargaining team!

Dale Siewert, chapter president
Medical Laboratory Scientist - Molecular Microbiology
As your president and someone who has seen how UW views bargaining we need experienced as well as new people at the bargaining table. We have big asks of UW, and we need to come at them ready to show the power of workers. We need to show UW that we expect them to show us the respect they claim they give us.

Phaleen Hanson, chapter secretary
Social Worker - Social Services
I am dedicated, passionate, and a strong advocate for SEIU 925 members. I work to approach challenges with both strategy and compassion, to find creative and practical solutions while staying focused on the values and priorities of our union. I am committed to bringing members voices to the table.

Rhonda Johnson
Patient Care Coordinator - Maternal & Infant Care
With all the folks here at the Med Center that I speak to, I have a very good idea as to what really matters to our members: safety, recognition for their contributions and of course, MONEY. I'm proud to be part of the team again this year!
Stefanie Addy
School of Dentistry
By being part of the bargaining team, I hope to give a voice to dental and all healthcare professionals who have had to make sacrifices to keep up with demanding schedules.
Wyra Armijo
I want there to be representation for the Animal Technicians, and I am one of the people willing to do it.
Patrick Arroyo
I want to give a productive voice to the growing frustrations of my team, and reduce our collective sense of isolation.

Tara Bartlett
Coding Specialist Supervisor - Family Practice Plan Services
I am tired of the push around we are getting from management and Labor Relations. We need to have voices from all departments standing up for what is in the best interest of the employees (not the employer). I want to be that voice for supervisors and employees!!

donna brooks
Account Analyst - College of Arts & Sciences
My goal is to have some impact on this season’s contract by making sure [our] concerns are addressed and answered, specifically questions around automatic cost-of-living increases that should not have to be negotiated at the bargaining table. Other concerns regarding the future of workers vs automation, and requesting time allowed for learning new skills and training for new technologies when compacted into a busy work-day.
Dane Brunson
Medical Laboratory Scientist - Chemistry, HMC
Contract bargaining is a long and difficult process but I’m still not done trying to force UW to do the right thing by its employees. Whether it’s working on economics or trying to find whatever language changes we can that help make people's working lives better, I think being at the table is the best way I can represent our membership and help make a difference.

Sariah Burdett
I am one of the first employees hired into CAS' new cohort system. Since the idea of lay offs and reorganizations were mentioned back in April of 2025 to the now implementation of the cohort system, poor communication has plagued the transition along with decision making that doesn't reflect the reality of the job. In being apart of the bargaining team, I hope to make positive change to the cohort system and represent the growing number of cohorted staff in CAS.

Maureen Calhoun
As classified staff, we are expected to perform much of the most demanding tasks in our units and yet we are afforded the least compensation and flexibility in our workplaces. The only way to improve our workplace in an equitable way that managers must honor across all our positions is through negotiating protections into our contract.

Joel Cude
People have forgotten the power of a united workforce standing together with their fist raised high, demanding their fair share. If we don’t look out for each other, no one will.

Dylan Deeg
In four years working as an Animal Tech at UW, I've been able to experience firsthand the working conditions and those of my colleagues across multiple facilities. I'd like to do my part in taking collective action to protect our rights as workers and work towards fair working conditions.

Ana Herrera
I am committed to listening to my colleagues and bringing forward their concerns around workload, staffing, resources, and working conditions. Strong representation means making sure no group is overlooked, and I will work to ensure the School of Dentistry has a consistent and respected voice at the table.
Tim Kapler
I am proud to be representing the UW Tacoma campus for the 2nd time, with a focus on helping bring up the most underrepresented positions.

Ari Kaufman
I'm passionate about supporting my coworkers in tight situations. Most of my experience is in the small non-profit arts world, where solidarity often feels as if it only stretches to a team of three or four and working conditions swing wildly from euphoric to catastrophic. I'm excited to contribute my energy to a different scale of team and learn and give what I can!

Tamara Knight
I believe effective Union representation requires fairness, preparation, dedication and open communication and I intend to bring these qualities with a strong level of integrity. I am committed to being a strong and fair voice of reason for our members.
Daeha Ko
Serving on the bargaining team allows me to actively participate in negotiations that directly impact wages, benefits, and working conditions, ensuring the voices of our coworkers are heard. It also provides an opportunity to develop negotiation and leadership skills and strengthen the union's collective power.

James Kussy
Scientific Instructional Tech - STEM (UWB)
I would be representative of classroom support techs in the school of STEM especially at UWB.

Jennifer Low
I want to represent my department and help the staff at UW get a fair contract including increased wages.
Demis Martin
I want to improve working conditions for my co workers. As well as keep a living wage and increase.

Jaimie McDonald
I am proud to be part of SEIU 925, where we come together to advocate for one another and stand in solidarity with our fellow workers, immigrants, queer communities, and others. I am motivated to help secure a contract that ensures better pay, tangible support for our mental and emotional health, and a work environment that values both our differences and our shared humanity.

Rizal Monghit
Financial Access Specialist - Financial Counseling Services
For several years I have happily working for UW in helping the needs of the people. That said, it is not without need for improvement and constant vigilance on behalf of workers rights. UW needs us to do what they purport to do, to improve the health of the public. To do so, they need to treat us workers fairly and acknowledge our needs.
Mike Morris
Being a part of the bargaining team is a way to support my peers in our need for a fair and equitable contract that rightly values our dedicated service to the University of Washington's success as the World Class Higher Education and Reasearch Institution that it has become.

Charlie Newman-Johnson
I want to bring a voice for libraries classified staff (and other north campus folks!) to the table! I'm relatively new to UW but really enjoy my job, and the people I get to work with, and want to make sure this contract allows people to feel valued (and compensated) and stay at UW.

Darnell Parker
I am proud to be a 10-year employee of UW Medicine and
a committed 10-year dues paying member of SEIU 925. Many of you know me as someone who motivates, organizes, and brings people together. My goal has always been simple: protect our members, strengthen our contract, and make sure every worker is respected and compensated for the value we bring to UW Medicine.

Brittney Parris
I have a strong commitment to equity and truly believe we provide an invaluable service to UW Medicine as a whole. We are, more often than not, the first contact for the patient and I believe that we should be respected and paid for the hard work and service we provide.

Morgan Ryan-Wynhoff
My priority on this team is to listen to and represent all of our members because every voice deserves a seat at the table. I know from fourteen years at UW that working conditions aren't a secondary concern; they shape our days, our energy, our ability to effectively do our jobs, and our lives when we go home at night. I take real pride in representing my colleagues, and I don't take that responsibility lightly.

Kathy Saechao
I believe being part of the bargaining committee is the way I can help take care of my fellow colleagues and union members. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent ERHI.

Suz Schwartz
I want to represent my coworkers to negotiate important issues for them so we can win benefits that better our work environment and enrich our personal lives.

Angelica Manuel Stevens
I believe that being a union means that we rely on one another for strength and solidarity, and as a member of our bargaining team, I will work to bring together our members to secure a fair and equitable contract.

Luke Stevens
I want to stand for all my colleagues in fighting for the fair contracts, fair pay, and workplace protections. The University prides itself on its research, its patient care and its place as a fixture in our communities in Washington state and beyond. That sterling reputation is built on the backs of our workers and the fruits of our labor. They need to be reminded of that and recognize our contributions.

Annette Stover
I have been with UW since 2012 and have been key in organizing the Neurodiagnostics Techs to deal with inequities and poor working conditions. I believe that my prior experience along with my critical thinking skills will be an asset to our team.

Gerry Todd
Too many of us are paid like we're disposable when we all know that we're not. The work we do is crucial to this hospital, takes months if not years of experience to do, and yet we're getting paid wages that are very literally at the poverty level. This is a fixable problem.

Lisabeth Vilett
Specimen Processing services, which now includes phlebotomy, has had a variety of longstanding unaddressed issues over the years, which affect staff morale and work productivity, and this in turn affects patient care negatively, while increasing turnover rates dramatically. I would like to see these issues addressed and remedied so we can all have a better working environment and take care of our patients better.

Evan Whitchurch
My goal through being a part of the bargaining action team is to make sure that the conditions in which we work are equitable, just, and capable of providing our time the life they deserve. I want to serve as a voice in making sure through collective power we can achieve better compensation, stability and balance in the places we devote our lives to.
