In addition to ER nurses standing strong together, collective action also made an appearance at the bargaining table this week. Nurses delivered to management a petition from 4E Nurses calling for an end to “reckless and unsafe” floating, and detailing the numerous clinical issues with current floating practices that put patients and Nurses’ licenses at risk. The petition was signed by 100% of 4E Nurses. Talk about unity! This shows how committed Nurses are to advocating for our patients.

We had hoped for more progress from management on floating so that we can begin to address compensation and its role in recruiting and retaining Nurses at the bedside.

But management refuses to listen to Nurses’ concerns and continues to put forward floating language that enables unsafe floating assignments. Putting patients at risk and Nurses’ licenses in jeopardy is unacceptable!
