Update: On September 9, the California State Assembly voted YES to give its final approval to the ammended version of AB1422! That means the bill has now cleared the legislature, and will be sent to the Governor to be signed. Stay tuned for more news!

On September 8, 2021, the California State Senate voted 29-9 to pass our bill, AB 1422. This important piece of legislation ensures California patients' right to know about dangerously low hospital staffing. It also gives Nurses a chance to have a voice in "program flexibility," a process our hospitals have misused to sidestep California regulations on Nurse-to-patient ratios. Next, the bill heads back to the State Assembly for a final vote on ammendments, the last step before it is sent to the Governor's desk.
